Runquist Three Way Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Paso Robles, California; $37.99

After spending 15 years in the cellars of Montevina and J. Lohr, Jeff Runquist produced his first vintage under his own label. This past fall he crushed his 25th vintage of grapes under that now iconic label. Runquist has been named “California Winery of the Year” and received countless medals for his wines. The 2016 Three Way Cabernet Sauvignon is classic Paso Robles with a more dense briary blackberry and dark cherry. Eighteen months in barrel provides this wine with a smoky deeply roasted almost charred oak character to the bouquet. Savory concentrated blueberry and blackberry flavors ride upon a silky texture with mature tannins that add richness without chewy aggressive astringency. In addition to the bouquet the time spent in oak barrels add a creamy richness to the mid-palate of this wine leading to a finish that lingers well with notes of juniper, cedar, and oak. - Sample $3.50
