Looks like this Friday the temperature will be dropping into the 30’s, so it is time for some cold weather wines. Join Alyssa and I (Carl) this week to sample a few new wines that will warm the soul! This is one of those rare weeks when the price of the flight is less than the wines individually. We have the brand new release from Michael David, their Freakshow Chardonnay and three delicious reds for fall.

Featured Wines:
Michael David Freakshow Chardonnay 2018
Lodi, California; $16.99
If I want to warm up on a white wine it has to be something like this. A warmer climate Chardonnay with a rich, round texture and lots of creamy notes. The Freakshow Chardonnay is the newest release from Michael David and truly shows off the versatility of Lodi.'s climate. It is a nice blend of oak and stainless steel to truly balance the oak. With only about half the wine going through a secondary malolactic fermentation the wine is still very fruit forward with that butteriness being secondary. Lots of nectarine, ripe Golden Delicious apples and butterscotch. - $1.50 Sample
LO-VE Garnacha #5
Spain; $19.99
With this wine instead of vintages his wines are numbered by batches. Each batch will vary just a bit with vineyard sources, but they also frequently blend a touch of Tempranillo into this wine and #5 is no exception with about 5%. I love the rich fruitiness that Garnacha brings. The cranberry and bright cherry are a wonderful compliment with about any poultry. The wine is rich and velvety without much tannin. There is some lovely depth to the wine with aromas of violets and lavender. - $1.50 Sample
Peachy Canyon Westside Zinfandel 2016
Paso Robles, California; $21.99
I have gushed on a Friday night flight more than once about how much I like the Beckett family. Lasts week flight featured a wine from Josh and Jake Beckett at Chronic Cellars. Peachy Canyon is where they got their start along side their parents Doug and Nancy Beckett. The Westside Zinfandel is their flagship wine and really does impress, consistently scoring 90+ points from many publications. The 2016 shows a really spicy nose with blueberry and licorice. On the palate it is all fruit up front supported by sweet vanilla, coffee and chocolate through the finish., - $2.00 Sample
Roth Heritage Red 2016
Sonoma, California; $19.99 WAS $29.99 SAVE $10!
This one blew me away. We per-ordered this wine for the Fall to get the pricing reduction, so once it is gone it's gone! Roth is part of the Foley Family portfolio of wines along side Sebastiani, EOS, Chalk Hill and many others. I may have a mild obsession with Bill Foley and I think it is rather justified. Beyond just the extensive amazing wines he has produced, Foley is the majority owner of the Las Vegas Golden Knights and is one of the major reasons there is hockey in Nevada… Yes I'm a big hockey fan, anyway…
This is a bold blend is primarily Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon with Malbec, Merlot, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot filling things out. The fruit for this comes from a number of hand selected plots in south-eastern Sonoma County. Aged in oak for about a year and a half the resulting wine is very balanced. Big chewy tannins with lots of blackberry, blueberry and white chocolate with hints of vanilla. - $1.50 Sample
