Domaine les Hautes Noelles “Les Parcelles” Muscadet 2018
Loire Valley, France; $13.99
Jean-Pierre Guedon is the owner and winemaker of Domaine Les Hautes Noelles, which was founded in 1930. His organically farmed vineyards are centered in the Cotes de Grandlieu sub-zone of Muscadet, sitting near the mouth of the Loire River as it joins the Atlantic. There is a strong sense of the sea throughout his wines, with the cooling breezes of the wild Atlantic keeping this Muscadet very fresh and heavy on minerality.
This Melon de Bourgogne is most commonly paired with seafood, but its extremely versatile. Aged “sur Lie” to add a rich mouthfeel and creamy mouthfeel. The flavor profile is complimentary to the holiday table with notes of white flowers, peaches, green apples and a lemony acidity. - Sample $1.00
Domaine Rochette Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau 2019
Beaujolais, France; $13.99
For those new to Nouveau… Nouveau is only fermented a couple of weeks, bottled and released extremely young on the third Thursday in November. Domaine Rochette produces a higher quality Nouveau that stands above most of the usual styles in the market and even has the potential to see some aging (6-12months). 2019 should be a good year for Nouveau. Lots of frost and hail early in the year have really lowered the yields producing high intensity more consistent wines. It was also another warm year making this years release very round and fruit forward. Beaujolais wont overpower the turkey and brings a little tartness and notes of cranberry that always make an amazing pairing for the holiday! - Sample $1.00
Mocali Rosso di Montalcino 2016
Tuscany, Italy; $21.99
Medium-bodied reds are perfect for Turkey, and Sangiovese plays extremely well with lots of herbs. This Rosso di Montalcino is an excellent value out of Tuscany. All estate grown fruit aged a year in large French oak barrels. It is a little bit warmer parcel that allows this wine to be approachable even young.
“More voluptuous than others. This shows resin, caramel and intense blackcurrant compote. Full-bodied and chewy with the wood showing through. Remains balanced and delicious.” 91pts James Suckling - Sample $2.00
Fiorini Becco Rosso Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro
Emilia-Romagna, Italy; $14.99
Located at the foot of Modena's Appennino mountains, the Fiorini estate was founded in 1919 and has been owned and operated by the Fiorini family for three generations. Made from Graspaross di Castelvetro harvested from a tiny 5 hectare vineyard planted in 1986. This is nothing like the Riunite or other sickeningly sweet Lambrusco Grandma had in the fridge. Put simply, this is delicious red wine with bubbles. Richly aromatic and intensely grapey on the nose, with dark cherry, dried tea, sandalwood, ground clove, anise and cardamom all adding to the mix. This is a very well-balanced, bright and fruity with nice round supple tannins and really pretty acidity. Fresh flavors of black cherry and pomegranate tickle the taste buds from start to finish. Perhaps one of the most versatile and often overlooked pairing. - Sample $1.00
