Leeuwin Estate Riesling 2023- $22.99/btl $2.50/taste
Margaret River, Western Australia
Touted as one of the best Australian wine producers (and producers of wine in general), Leeuwin is still family-owned and operated, farming their coastal estate since the 1970’s. This Riesling is crisp, cool and acidic with mouth-watering minerality. Crunchy Riesling. Like a tart apple on a hot day.
Bolt-To Pinot Noir 2021- $24.99/btl $2.50/taste
Santa Rita Hills, California
THIS IS SUPER DELICIOUS. Bright and fresh with herbs and a light heirloom tomato/tomato leaf aroma that is just, ugh. Don’t get many like this these days, but I swear, that description used to be a common one for cool-climate Pinots from the west coast… but now many are highly extracted and well, I should stop typing…
FUNCKEN HAUSEN Malbec Blend 2022- $16.99/L $2.50/taste
Mendoza, Argentina
A blend of Malbec, Bonarda and Syrah from the San Rafael region of southern Mendoza where altitude, soil and wind are, to the winemakers, the most perfect for fragrant wines. Also, I just love saying FUNCKEN HAUSEN and will do so at any opportunity… plus it’s in a 1L bottle because they say “to share, you need more than 750ml”.
Wente Southern Hills Cabernet Sauvignon 2022- $11.99/btl $2.50/taste
Central Coast, California
Did everyone else also forget that Wente is pretty good? Or was it just me? I don’t normally throw big brands on the tastings because, well frankly they don’t need my help, but this is a great $12 wine and should get a little spotlight for its consistency and accessibility. Good job, dudes!
