Hess Select Sauvignon Blanc 2023- $11.99/btl $2.50/taste
California AVA
From the Hess Family Napa Producers, the ‘Select’ Sauvignon Blanc is culled from the fine farms Hess has worked well with for years, scattered around the northern quadrant of California. It’s bursting with fresh citrus zest and pleasing melon notes- not cloying sweet ones, either! Since 1978, Hess Select has been family owned and operated, which I respect. And they have one of the best, affordable Sauvignon Blancs in the game, which I appreciate.
Il Bastardo Sangiovese 2022- $9.99/btl $2.50/taste
Tuscany., Italy
This little Vespa riding CHONK has been in and out of the store for the last two years and I’ve sang its chunky praises for as long. How cute it this bottle?! He looks like he didn’t know his picture was being taken- like, is this a drawing rendered from traffic cam footage?! Busted holding his helmet?? WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!? Oh, and the wine is good.
TWO MOUNTAIN Hidden Horse Red Blend No. 20- $16.99/btl $2.50/taste
Yakima Valley, Washington
The 20th bottling from the Brothers Rawn, who come from four generations of farmers, from their Humble Roots Estate which was established in 2000, I think it’s safe to say that this MAY be 2020 vintage… but that really doesn’t matter. The brothers produce very small, thoughtful lots of wine and we are psyched about it! Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc join in harmonious union with French oak and careful expression of tannins. Literally perfect red blend.
Hess Select Cabernet Sauvignon 2020- $17.99/btl $2.50/taste
California AVA
Shockingly restrained, elegant and expressive Cabernet from our friends at Hess. Acidity still present? Oak notes that aren’t reductive? Smooth and clean finish with plum and cherry notes that don’t taste like Smuckers’ Jam? Under $20? Si por favor. Si.
