Cantagrillo Brut NV- $17.99/btl $2.50/taste
Gil Family Estate, Zamora, Spain
Method Traditional Cava made from Malvasia and BLASTING with fruity bubbles that just refuse to quit. The Gil Family have been producing insanely delicious wines for about a hundred years and the quality of their grapes, even in their low-cost lines of wines, is unmatchable.
Honoro Vera White Blend 2023- $10.99/btl $2.50/taste
Rueda, Spain
An organic blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Verdejo from the rolling hills of Castilla y Leon in the beautiful region of Rueda. This affordable daily-drinker is packed full of white flower and tropical fruit aromas, with a Meyer lemon oil texture. All stainless-steel tank fermentation and resting with a small amount of lees contact which adds to the creamy finish.
Gota de Arena Tempranillo 2021- $10.99/btl $2.50/taste
Rueda, Spain
Castilla y Leon, as I think we’ve been learning, is an excellent place to farm organically and produce delicious, cost-effecting grapes. One of our favorites being the humble Tempranillo grape. Outside of Rioja, Rueda is emerging as a premier Tempranillo region (and I kinda like it better…) where you can find consistent, varietally correct wines. Loud aromatics of crushed black and red fruits co-mingled with vanilla, spice and cedar.
Juan Gil Monastrell 2021- $18.99/btl $2.50/taste
Jumilla, Spain
A few weeks back, we tasted Juan Gil’s red blend, so here’s their Monastrell! The 2021 vintage is great! Ripe, dark berries and cherries with a gentle floral component amidst a hint of flint like a freshly lit candle. Silky tannins on first blush, but the finish is prolonged and persistently spicy with cinnamon sticks and freshly grated nutmeg. This is a very good wine. I think I’m talking myself into buying one right now!
