Featured Wines:
L’Archetipo Fiano 2020
Puglia, Italy; $19.99
This Fiano is a perfect toe dip into the world of “Orange Wines”. Simply put Orange Wines are white wines that are produced with skin contact during the fermentation process. After destemming and a soft crushing this wine is fermented on the skins (like a red wine), giving more tannin and structure. It only sees about a week on the skins, just enough to add some depth, without pushing to the Orange Wine extremes (sour, nutty, oxidative). The wine is lean and fresh, with great minerality and soft floral notes. – Sample $2.00
Cantine Barbera “Lu Cori” Nero d’Avola 2020
Sicily, Italy; $19.99
Marilena Barbera is an independent winegrower, organically farming her 30 hectare vineyard in Menfi, on the Southwest coast of Sicily. She is the third generation on the property, carrying on her family’s legacy focusing exclusively on low intervention winemaking with indigenous varietals. Her approach to Nero d’Avola is much lighter, and austere. Vibrant, with light spice, and notes of wild berries. – Sample $2.00
G.D. Vajra Langhe Rosso 2020
Piedmont, Italy; $18.99
Husband and wife Aldo and Milena began the winery in 1972, producing small quantities of Piemontese wines from vineyards planted by Aldo’s father in 1947. The fruit was sold to negociants until Aldo bottled his first vintage in 1978. Today, the family has 40 hectares under vine, with more responsibility being moved onto the fourth generation, their three children Giuseppe, Francesca and Isidoro.
The Rosso is their entry level blend. It is primarily Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Dolcetto, with small amounts of other regional varietals. The wine shows incredible depth. Tart cherry, currant, and plum fruit flavors with earth, spice, tobacco, and tea notes to name a few. – Sample $1.50
Cantine Elvio Tintero “Sori Gramella” Moscato d’Asti 2021
Piedmont, Italy; $17.99
Don’t be scared! Yes slightly sweet, but not sugary. This is what Moscato is meant to be. Sori Gramella is one of the single vineyards the Tintero family. Full southern exposure giving these grapes excellent long days of sunshine, developing notes juicy fresh peaches. The touch of fizz lifts any residual sweetness off the palate, while the bright acidity makes it simply mouthwatering. Exploding with fresh flavors of peaches, apricots, orange blossom, and honey. – Sample $1.50
