Les Volets Pinot Noir 2019
Roussillon, France; $11.99
A nicely priced Pinot Noir, that tastes like Pinot Noir… The grapes are sourced from the wild, rugged landscape of Pays Cathare that surrounds the towns of Carcassonne and Limoux. Produced from mainly handpicked fruit, fermented and aged in large neutral oak barrels. This aging just softens the edges and helps balance the structure. The resulting wine is full of bright red fruit flavors. Fresh picked raspberries, Bing cherries, with a hint of cassis and sage. – Sample $1.00
Allamand “Altamira” Malbec 2014
Mendoza, Argentina; $14.99 WAS $24.99 SAVE $10!
Made from 100% malbec that comes from one single vineyard belonging to Federico ‘Fico’ Villafane, father-in-law of Cristian Allamand the winemaker of this release. Aged in a combination of first and second year French oak for a year, and then cellar conditioned in bottle for another nine months before release. The additional aging this bottling has seen has simply turned the wine to silk. More earthy secondary flavors balance that classic plum character that Malbec is known for. – Sample $1.50
Daisy Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Washington; $14.99
Washington is slowly gaining ground on California with Cabernet Sauvignon. Climate change is truly impacting the wine industry and will continue to push the grapes further north. Combine that with the lower cost of land in the Pacific Northwest, at least in comparison, you can find a killer value Cab coming from Washington. This is the Bieler Family’s newest release in the Daisy lineup. Produced from all sustainably farmed fruit, it underwent a natural, native yeast fermentation, and was then finished with minimal intervention.
“Blackberry, cassis, tobacco and notes of violet on the nose. Perfect balance between lush fruit and structure.” – Sample $1.50
