Usiglain Del Vescovo
Palaia, Pisa, Chianti, Tuscany, Italy
Usiglian del Vescovo is located nearby Palaia in the rolling hills of Valdera. The enchanting landscape and nature give this graceful property a charming appearance. The Tyrrhenian Sea close to the winery makes it ideal for viticulture and enhances the beauty of the estate. Being located in western Tuscany and being in Chianti also, has both it’s benefits and its difficulties- but Usiglian Del Vescovo is all the better for it! The first wines were made there in 1083 and it’s unique microclimate with plenty of rainfall coupled with hot summers make farming organically easy to do, which is lucky because they always have!
Today, the vineyards are rich in minerals and marine fossils extending throughout an area of 160 hectares, 25 of which are dedicated to Sangiovese, Syrah, Petite Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and some white grape varietals that aren’t currently imported to the US, so talking about them is just cruel. The rest of their acreage is olive trees.
I am so, so very excited that we can taste these wines and that we’re able to offer them to you at these great prices. Literally, if they were for 2 miles east, they’d be $50 more per bottle.
