Another week of new wines for Country Fresh! La Fiera Montepulciano was a huge hit when it was featured a couple years ago on a Friday night, this week will feature its counterpart, a Pinot Grigio. Then we jump from Italy to the Pacific Coast. A elegant Pinot Noir from an eccentric winemaker, a new Washington Cab, and an in your face red blend I think will knock peoples socks off.

Grab your flight for only $5!

Featured Wines:

1) La Fiera Pinot Grigio 2020

Veneto, Italy; $7.99

La Fiera, or “The Fair” is produced by the Botter family who have been producing high quality wines in Veneto since 1928. Three generations later they continue traditional production methods and sustainable farming. This is just a great example of Pinot Grigio from Delle Venezie at an incredible price. More flavorful than others at this price point, with a crisp acidity and a touch of minerality. Green apple, pear, and hints of lemongrass. Porch Pounder! - Sample $.50

2) SLO Down Wines “Send Nudes” Pinot Noir 2020

California; $17.99

…I don’t even know where to begin with SLO Down Wines. Brandon Allen, Owner and Winemaker is an interesting guy. At one time the phone number on the label was his actual cell phone number, only changed because he was actually receiving way to many graphic photos. Known for amazing quotes like, “I only wanted to make good wine so I could get laid.”, and “This wine goes great with late night booty texts to the EX.” More importantly he does make great wines and clearly doesn’t take things too seriously. All neutral oak aging keeps the wine fresh with a “crunchy” minerality. Lots of bright cherry, violets, black tea and a hint of cinnamon.  - Sample $1.50

3) Truth be Told Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Columbia Valley, Washington; $17.99

This is the newest label from Roots Run Deep, most well known for the Educated Guess wines out of California. Truth be Told was their first production to utilize fruit from Washington. All the fruit here actually comes from the Goose Ridge Estate Vineyards in Goose Gap AVA (American Viticultural Area), the newest AVA in the US. The 2019 vintage is the second release of this partnership between Goose Ridge and Roots Run Deep. Rich ripe berries and juicy plum are framed with hints of tobacco and chocolate. - Sample $1.50

4) Marietta “Christo” Red Blend 2017

Sonoma, California; $21.99

These are my kind of red blends! Made from 100% estate grown fruit, inspired by traditional old world blends, and fermented DRY. They don’t make blends for the feint of heart. Big and bold with a ton of structure. The Christo is inspired by the blends of the Rhone valley, and named after their Founder Chris Bilbro. Mainly Syrah from their McDowell Valley property, blended with Grenache, Petite Sirah and a touch of Viognier from their other vineyards in Sonoma.

“…Black cherry, chocolate, leather, licorice and spice give the wine much of its dark, brooding feel. Powerful and intense, but with good freshness, the 2016 is wonderfully complete and absolutely delicious.” 93pts Antonio Galloni  - Sample $2.00
