Alexander Valley Vineyards ‘Gewurz’- $13.99/btl $2.50/taste
Mendocino County, California
Enticingly perfumed floral notes with just APPLES after. Seriously so much apple. Like, like all of the apples. How is this wine not made of apples? Well, it isn’t, ok? It’s made from the German/French varietal Gewurztraminer whose origin story is a long and winding one. Probably originally from Tramin, Italy (the one-time German speaking region in Northern Italy) it has been known by many names and no one knows for sure, but after it was replanted in the 1970’s onto phylloxera-resistant root stock, it’s essentially broadly taken on the characteristics of what we know today. And it grows great in Mendocino!
Anne Amie Muller-Thurgau- $17.99/btl $2.50/taste
Willamette Valley, Oregon
Complex, to say the least, with apricot, apples, citrus, fennel and jasmine notes; Muller-Thurgau is the crossing of Riesling and Madeleine Royale and was created in 1882 by Hermann Muller at the Geisenheim Grape Breeding Institute in Germany. The varietal was created specifically to harness the strength of Riesling, coupled with the early-ripening quality of Madeleine Royal. And it grows great in the Pacific Northwest!
Stoller Family Pinot Noir- $24.99/btl $2.50/taste
Willamette Valley, Oregon
100% Pinot Noir from one of Oregon’s most celebrated wineries, made by Melissa Burr who was the estate’s very first dedicated winemaker and STILL IS. DO YOU KNOW HOW RARE THAT IS?! This vintage is a stunner with red fruit, cedar and earth on the nose, and bramble and brandied cherries on the palate. A real stand-out!
Weingut Friederich Becker Estate Pinot Noir- $25.99/btl $2.50/taste
Pfalz, Germany
Wild berry, tobacco, spices and forest floor- all telltale notes from the varietal and region. Just a banger, to be totally honest… So, who do you think wore it best??
