Cascina Radice ‘Sorino’ DOCG 2021- $18.99/btl $2.50/taste
Moasca, Gavi, Italy
GAVI, GAVI, GAVI! GAVI DEL COMUNE DI GAVI! Gavi is a place, smack dab in the center of the Alessandria province in Piedmont where the Cortese grape is cultivated; and if you grow Cortese here and make wine from it, it gets not only a DOCG designation, you also get to say its name twice, which is so much more fun, no? Anyways, Gavi di Gavis are known for their rich, complex minerality, green apple notes and hints of almond. Delicious.
Valle Martello ‘Brado’ 2022- $19.99/btl $2.50/taste
Abruzzo, Italy
Made entirely of an Abruzzo native grape called Cococciola, which is commonly blended with Trebbiano and used in other blends, but is never named on the label. SO RUDE. It’s known for its acidity and grassy, herbaceous aromas which are comparable to those of Sauvignon Blanc.
Poggio del Moro Rosso Toscana 2016- $19.99/btl $2.50/taste
Tuscany, Italy
A blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah from Poggio del Moro’s best vineyards that touts alluringly fresh fruit notes with tobacco and tea leaves. So very Tuscan of it… This is a serious wine, but it’s not pretentious even though it scored a 93 from James Sucking… And it’s a 2016?? For $20?! Come on now.
Poggio del Moro Riserva Chianti 2016- $27.99/btl $2.50/taste
Colli Senesi, Chianti, Tuscany, Italy
I know some of you keep asking “why do you keep letting Dan come back?” Well, firstly because he’s a lovely man and a great friend. AND SECONDLY would be because he has EXCELLENT wines at INSANE prices. Take this one for instance: 2016 Colli Senesi Riserva Chianti… You guys, that’s the most important subzone in all of the Chianti DOCG! And it’s a Riserva!! Which is the highest grade of Chianti that exists!!! THIS WINE SLAPS.
