The flight this week is brought to you by the Heathers! One, our representative from Tramonte and Sons wines, the other our new Wine Department Manager… formerly of Tramonte and Sons. I’m sure nobody will get confused. The easy part is the lineup of wines this week. A crisp refreshing Pinot Gris from Oregon, the Tassajara wines brand new to Country Fresh, and finishing things up with a rich and dense Cali red blend.

Featured Wines:
Foris Pinot Gris 2021
Rogue Valley, Oregon; $17.99
Foris was founded in 1971 by Ted Gerber. At the time, there were only 13 wineries in Oregon and none in the Rogue Valley. 50 years later his children have joined the team and the original 15 acres have grown to over 135 acres today. They produce a beautiful Pinot Gris. Unoaked, extremely fresh tasting, with a mouth-watering acidity, and tons of fruit. Lots of pineapple, crisp green apple, and bright lemony citrus. – Sample $1.50
Tassajara Chardonnay 2021
Monterey, California; $14.99
100% Chardonnay sourced from the Scheid Family Estate. The Scheid family has been managing their family vineyards in Monterey for more than fifty years. Pioneers of sustainable agriculture, and operate entirely wind powered. The wine sees a light touch of mainly neutral French oak, to add depth, without overwhelming the fruit.
“Aromas of yellow apples, citrus with hints of melon, notes of vanilla, caramel and butterscotch. Medium-bodied structured, balanced bright fruit with a lingering toasty oak finish.” – Sample $1.50
Tassajara Pinot Noir 2021
Monterey, California; $14.99
Grown in the same Scheid vineyards along the Salinas Valley in Monterey. The wine shows loads of complexity compared to much of the other under $15 Pinots these days. Fermented out bone-dry and then aged in 25% new French oak for about a year. The barrels add the perfect amount of sweet oak character; vanilla and mocha to the bright cherry, blackberry, and plum fruit flavors. – Sample $1.50
Runquist 1448 Red Blend 2020
Sierra Nevada, California; $17.99
Named “1448” because that is the altitude of their small family winery in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Originally this wine was made from the surpluses of their varietal wine program. Starting in 2011 the popularity of this blend outgrew that model and vineyards were then being chosen just for the makeup of this wine. Predominately a blend of Petit Verdot and Petite Sirah, this wine dellivers rich smooth tannins, big juicy fruit forward flavors and a wonderful mouthfeel and depth from an aging process in French Oak. – Sample $1.50
