Allamand Cuvee Saint Jeannet 2016
Mendoza, Argentina; $6.99 WAS $16.99 SAVE $10!
Allamand is one of the few producers in the world that works with the Saint Jeannet grape. A nearly extinct varietal thought to have originated in the South of France where it is known as Gros Vert Blanc. The varietal has an extremely high acidity, which Allamand balances by blending with a bit of Chardonnay. Floral, tropical fruits, white peaches, with lots of minerality. – Sample $0.50
BBQ Barbera 2018
Piedmont, Italy; $6.99 WAS $11.99 SAVE $5!
This is a little entry level Barbera from Vini Araldica, a wine cooperative started back in the early 1950’s. The cooperative is now made up of more than 50 small family estates in the Piedmont region of Northwestern Italy. No oak on this red. It is bright and fresh with juicy red cherries and plums. As the name says, the wine is great with something smokey right off the BBQ. – Sample $0.50
Flat Top Hills Red Blend 2016
California; $6.99 WAS $16.99 SAVE $10!
Flat Top Wines was a project started by Angelina Mondavi, fourth generation of the CK Mondavi family. The majority of the fruit comes from their estate vineyard in Dunnigan Hills. Small lots also come from vineyards throughout Sonoma and the Sierra Foothills. After a little digging we found the blend to be Zinfandel and Merlot with a touch of Petite Sirah and Malbec.
“Awash with mouthwateringly tart black cherry and white-peppered mocha, it wakes up the palate with its fine balance of acidity and fruit. Notes of brush and tangy herbs lend more character.” 91pts Tasting Panel – Sample $0.50
Hyatt Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Yakima Valley, Washington; $11.99
This one is no closeout, but still a killer value. The Hyatt Cab comes from a up and coming AVA in Yakima Valley, Rattlesnake Hills. The region gained its appellation status in 2006, and has slowly been gaining more notoriety. Leland and Lynda Hyatt planted their first vines in this area more than forty years ago. Their wines are all still estate grown fruit. This Cab has excellent complexity; black cherry, with hints of cocoa, cinnamon, caramel, and cedar from the oak. – Sample $1.00
