The official start of Fall is right around the corner on September 23rd so it is time to start bringing out the red! Full bodied whites to warm the soul and light - medium bodied reds for those roasted vegetables and the ever approaching Turkey-Day! Featured Wines:
2018 Montes Classic Chardonnay – Chile; $11.99
2018 was a near perfect growing season for Chile. Hard rains in the winter (Jun-Aug) to help replenish groundwater followed by a dry cool growing season to produce beautifully balanced and ripe fruit. Produced from all hand harvested fruit from Casablanca and Curico Valleys. The cooler climate of Casablanca Valley bring the citrus and floral notes while the warmer Curico Valley adds tropical notes of pineapple, peaches and apricots. They only age about a third of the wine in French oak to add a light vanilla and toasted nuts to the finish. - $1.25 Sample
2017 The Seeker Pinot Noir – France; $12.99
The Seeker is a global wine company that attempts to craft some of the best values and amazing wines from regions all over the world. Northern Italian Pinot Grigio, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, German Riesling, and Argentine Malbec to name a few. The Pinot Noir is classified as an Indication Geogrphique Protegee (IGP, “Protected Geographical Region”) from France. This is a tier below their appellation system, but shows that the winemaking and grape growing is flowing these regulated standards. These grapes are a blend from both the Loire Valley and Provence. It is an unoaked Pinot Noir with lots of bright fresh fruit. Silky with lots of cherry, earth and spice. - $1.25 Sample
2017 Campo Viejo Garnacha – Rioja, Spain; $8.99
Campo Viejo dates back to 1959 and is one of the few Rioja wineries producing a 100% Garnacha. A bit fuller than Pinot Noir, but bright and fruit forward. Garnacha has always been one of my favorite recommendations for Thanksgiving. The wine has been a huge success with the 2017 vintage receiving 90 points from both James Suckling and Tim Atkin. The wine is flooded with fruit; strawberry, raspberry, cherry, and blackberry with some amazing floral notes of violet and lilac. This sees just enough oak to round it out and add some sweet baking spices and a bit of toastiness. - $1.00 Sample
2017 Storypoint Cabernet Sauvignon – California; $16.99
Storypoint has been only available in on-premise (restaurants/bars) until September. This is the first month that the wines have been released for sale to retailers (Yay!) This guy sees a long cold soak and extended maceration to really extract a lot of texture and density to the wine. It is a blend of North Coast appellations, fermented in small lots and then aged in all French oak. The resulting wine is like silk. Intense blackberry jam with some mocha and spice. - $1.50 Sample
