Spectacular Spanish Flight

This place is always a party when our buddy Tim "Pink" from Euro Fine Wines is behind the bar. We are featuring the wines of Ego Bodegas from Jumilla, Spain. They focus on rich and velvety Monastrell based blends. Since they are mainly a red wine house we also plan to kick the flight off with a light crisp Albarino from Adegas Valminor.

Featured Wines:

2017 Adegas Valminor Albarino – Rias Baixas, Spain; $15.99

Founded in 1997, the Valminor estate is 86 acres of beautiful vineyards in the Valley O Rosal within Rias Baixas. Produced in all stainless steel, this wine is super aromatic. Notes of fresh grapefruit, apricot and melon. Crisp with a truly mouthwatering acidity. - $1.50 Sample

Ego Bodegas – Jumilla, Spain

Located in the Jumilla region of Southeast Spain, Jumilla is a very warm region producing very ripe fruit forward wines. Ego Bodegas is about a sixty acre estate of fifty plus year old vines. They focus mainly on southern French varietals such as Monastrell (Mouvedre), which makes up about 80% all vines in Jumilla and Syrah.

2014 Marionette Monastrell/Syrah; $9.99

Half and half on this one. Equal parts Monastrell and Syrah with the shortest time in oak. Only about 2-3 months just to round out the wine and soften the tannins a bit. Very clean with more bright fruit forward aromas. Still chewy with loads of ripe berries and a smooth creamy finish. - $1.00 Sample

2013 Fuerza Monastrell/Cabernet Sauvignon; $9.99

One of our best sellers from Ego Bodegas. After about three weeks of a slow, cooler temperature fermentation they leave the wine aging on the skins for another ten days. This process extracts softer velvety tannins from the grape skins. It is then framed with a full year of aging in Fench oak.

“Cola, sassafras, and clove notes frame a deep core of plum and currant fruit in this dense red. The texture is plush and polished, supported by well-integrated tannins and balsamic acidity.” Wine Spectator - $1.00 Sample

2015 Infinito Monastrell/Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah/Petit Verdot; $19.99

Infinito is their fullest bodied style with the Cabernet and Petit Verdot really adding a lot of structure. The wine is aged a year and a half in mainly new American oak barrels. This aging brings a lot of baking spices, offering up that sweet caramel and vanilla note to the finish. Juicy dark fruit with black licorice and balsamic. - $1.50 Sample
