Wines Chosen Because “Yum”!

March 8th 2023

Deux Roches Bourgogne 2021- $18.99/btl $2.50/taste

How often do you get to have an honest-to-God, 100% Chardonnay Burgundy under $20? It’s rare, mon freres! Juicy, chewy and savory white wine with a toasty nose and creamy finish. Yum.

Altos Las Hormigas Tinto 2019- $9.99/btl $2.50/taste

A ruby red blend of 48% Bonarda, 45% Malbec and 7% Semillon from Lujan de Cuyo and the Uco Valley in Mendoza, Argentina that’s as fresh as the day is long. There are many cool things about this wine, but one that I find SO COOL is that the Malbec and Semillon are hand-harvested early and co-fermented to balance the acid and tannins in the Malbec. So wild what 7% of something can do! Very yum!

Avignonesi Cantaloro Tuscana Rosso 2021- $14.99/btl $2.50/taste

Obsessed with Avignonesi. This table red out-drinks many, many of its competitors and manages to showcase fruit without extracting the wine to fool us with perceived oak aging. These wines aren’t about wood! They’re about grapes! YUM.

Harvey & Harriet Red Blend 2020- $24.99/btl $2.50/taste

From winemaker Eric Jensen of Booker Winery in Paso Robles is Harvey & Harriet, which he made in memory of his parents. The western side of Paso has unique terroir boasting calcareous soils and extreme, vertical slopes. A lot goes into this blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sirah, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and even Malbec! This is a lovely fruit-forward and easily-understood wine. No fluff, all stuff. YUMM.
